Everybody is looking for a sign in the sky. They said you couldn’t understand God, but did you try? Logic would lead us to the foundation of mathematics. It doesn’t just provide proof of concept. It also provides an example that allows for a description without contradiction. Such results defy expectation, so clarity is rejected in favor of faulty ideas that are more appealing and relatable.
The Godly Blindspot
Whether you are religious, an atheist, or somewhere in between, we were all introduced to the same Imperceivable Creator of all when learning about God. Our inability to imagine the Creator has led many to believe understanding is impossible. Logic is the perfect tool for understanding when there can be no confusion caused by our limits in perception.
No one doubts the existence of an origin or starting point for everything until we fail to fit the infinite into our finite concepts. Some hold onto the belief in a Creator and let faith free them to imagine the ideal. Others reject the Creator because of their flawed human-like projection without ever addressing the actual issue. Those stuck in the middle can’t get decisive answers from either side.
Clarity About the Creator
People use the word “creation” to describe invention so often, it is easy to forget that to truly create is to bring something into being from total non-existence. The Creator would not be made of, limited by, or dependent on anything created. The only way to isolate the Creator of all for the sake of understanding would be to conceptually remove all that was supposedly created.
What remains isn’t “nothing”. Such a conclusion could confuse or insult. Consider zero and its foundational role in math. Some people don’t see the difference because many of us think zero is nothing. Zero is none, as in: “How many finite attributes does something infinite have?”. None.
As math’s foundational reference point, zero is the placeholder for actual infinity. That’s because the reality it applies to would have no traits we can define in finite terms. We can only know what it is according to what it isn’t. We can describe it according to what it means to everything else.
Zero and the Attributes of God
Zero, as illustrated on the number line, does everything within its system that God is said to do in reality as the Infinite Origin of the finite, except those things linked to imagination and personification. Since a Creator cannot be made of the created, and the imperceivable should also be unimaginable, describing God in such ways should never have taken place at all.
Seeing the parallels between zero’s role in math and a Universal Origin doesn’t really contradict the typical concept of God. It allows for the description of said God without contradiction. It presents the logic behind a concept that may not have been understood in real time or may have been misunderstood over time.
The Benefits of Knowledge
Once you get past the personification, you no longer wonder why or how an ”All-Good” and “All-Powerful” God allows suffering or bad things to happen. Absolute value is never negative. Everything is what it is. Even the opposite of what you want can be beneficial.
Understanding that the Absolute has no equal, partner, or peer means no longer inventing a rival that is responsible for the bad. It also means only the Creator can be the Destroyer. The only way for anything to cease to exist, including our individual awareness, is a return to God.
There is no way to describe what that would be like in any way imaginable, but the most rational conclusion based on what we do know is that our end of individual existence will be a meeting with Timeless Perfection. Whether we will be aware during this inevitable end or not, perspective allows us to see how such an event can be the best or worst experience possible.
For those who can appreciate the lack of negativity, which would leave no purpose for the positive, the meeting would be bliss. Those who would miss the positive and bring negativity with them would feel torment.
Amor Fati without Numbness
If you are able to see the only possible way for permanent bliss within an event that can also be seen as the worst possible experience, internalizing it can unlock the power of positive perspective in almost all situations. This is a mindset, so it doesn’t really help with physical pain. Without this mindset, you are more likely to inflict unnecessary emotional pain than a situation merits, or you may adopt an attitude that hinders some enjoyment you should be savoring.
I can speak with more authority about the benefits of this information than I can about the pitfalls of not taking heed. The lens that allows death to be a bridge to Heaven works like putting absolute brackets on everything that happens. The bad is good and the good is good, but you aren’t deluding yourself into believing everything is pleasant.
In Stoicism, there is a concept called Amor Fati. It means to love your fate. A part of its discipline numbs the practitioner to life’s pleasures. What understanding God logically offers is the mental fortitude to smile and thrive in the face of adversity while being able to fully enjoy and savor your pleasant experiences.
Introduction of Intellectual Righteousness
This article is a dense introduction of an entire philosophy that may be hard to fully digest in one sitting. Its most unique trait is its invitation to examination. Even though it defies convention, the logic is sound. To be valid to you, it requires your critical thinking to be the judge and jury.
Intellectual Righteousness is the thinking man’s religion. It is based on two facts and one opinion. Those two facts are: God is to reality what zero is to math, and with God is Heaven or Hell. The one opinion is: You should remember those two facts.
